Te Aroha is a small town in the Waikato at the foot of the Kaimai Range. Known for its geothermal activity, for centuries, people have been heading here to soak and rejuvenate.
It’s natural inspiration, when you think about it, for Bremworth’s new collection of cut-pile carpet and rugs – the town’s origin stories, ruggedly beautiful surrounding landscape and geothermal activity have informed both the luxurious feel and down-to-earth colour palette.
Bold, immersive and instantly reassuring, Te Aroha is a hard-wearing, luxurious range. Durable felted New Zealand wool is woven into loops and then cut: by twisting the fibres, you ensure resistance to crushing and matting, but you also create a deep, thick pile to sink into.
To this, Bremworth has added a palette of colours inspired by the landscape and geology of Te Aroha, with rich tones found in nature and the local mineral-rich waters.
Darker tones – perfect for inviting, interior spaces with soft lighting – include the deep red of Orchid, the slightly brighter tones of Copper, and the rich green of Kaimai, named for the bush-clad hills above the town.
Lighter tones are useful for more understated palettes and rooms with views. They include the neutral beiges of Tea Tree and Mint, as well as softer hues of Limestone and Kohu.
Made from luxurious New Zealand wool, the range is also hard-wearing, stain-resistant and hypo-allergenic. As a result, both full carpet and custom-made rugs are perfect for living rooms and high-traffic areas – bringing a romantic piece of history into the heart of the home.
