After four years of what feels like near-constant disruption and change – from the challenges of Covid to supply-chain issues – there’s a growing desire for comfort and richness in our homes. Where once we were happy with spare minimalism, now there is a distinct shift to colour, warmth and texture.
Rooms that we previously felt should be spare and neutral are giving way to spaces with more personality and depth. We want spaces to look warmer, with more interest, but we also want the things we touch to feel textural. “We’re sensing a deep need for honest, tactile designs,” says ABI Interiors co-founder Luli Farrell. “It’s about making everyday moments more memorable, and it’s also reflective of how much time we continue to spend at home.”
Designed in-house, ABI’s hardware range is embracing the shift toward textured fittings. The Namika range of hardware, for instance, incorporates faceted grooves for a tactile, smooth finish – it’s a sophisticated, modern update on a traditional look. Made from solid brass, each piece features reeded details and is available in four different finishes.
Similarly, Nelios is a collection of rounded concrete wall-hung basins, with an organic look and a distinctly textured appearance. Available in grey, white and almond finishes, each piece is subtly different – and incredibly hardwearing thanks to its solid concrete construction.
Meanwhile, the brand’s new range of Travertine Half Moon Entry Door Pulls provide an elegant, tactile addition to exterior entry doors. Made from solid, pre-sealed travertine, the handles are sold separately – fit two for double-sided installation. Each piece is unique, with solid stone construction, and the design features hidden fixings. They’re suitable for fitting to both new doors and old – making for a handy update.
