Belgian brothers Serge and Axel Van Den Bossche took over their mother’s pot-making business in the late 1980s. Within a decade, they’d built it into something of a cult homewares brand thanks to collaborations with leading designers, and a total commitment to craft – every piece is handmade by traditional craftspeople around the world.
The brand has developed a reputation for novel and high-powered collaborations with designers, chefs and creatives, across categories as varied as glassware, cutlery, plates and furniture. (They still make pots.)
ECC is now bringing in a range of Serax products that includes pots, vases, glassware and wooden kitchen pieces, with a handmade feel.
The low white plates and perfectly sized bowls by Dutch designer Piet Boon are the kind of pieces you can use every day, but that still feel special. The Base collection, which includes a 34-piece cutlery set, is the last word in refined minimalism. And there’s a set of wine glasses with a satisfyingly chunky stem and a soft, elegant shape.
