The third issue of Here celebrates the making of home in five very special houses from Auckland to Lake Hāwea – they are beautiful houses, filled with the collections of a lifetime.

This issue we worked with Tyrone Ohia (Ngāti Pukenga, Ngāi Te Rangi) and Rob Lewis of Extended Whānau. Their delicate approach saw them develop a bespoke page-numbering system inspired by the dappled shadows cast through leaves – drawing attention to a thing so often overlooked.

With houses by Gerald Parsonson, Paul Clarke, Malcolm Walker, Sir Ian Athfield and Geordie & Emma Shaw it’s one hell of a special issue.

We also cover a special journey of understanding down the Waikato River, Josh Emett’s new restaurant, the extraordinary art of Isabella Loudon, and a tiny apartment project by Patchwork Architects.
